Oh What A Lovely War June 1993

Presented with music and songs, the play is a satire on war and WW1 in particular. It viewed the first world war from the perspective of the common soldier and it counterpointed traditional music hall songs from the era with grim battle statistics. The musical first draws the audience into the sentimentality of the war propaganda and sense of bonhomie that was prevalent at the beginning of the First World War. The true horror of the First World War is then borne out in Act Two. An ensemble cast present a drama that is tragic and deeply moving.
